Amla - Emblica Officinalis

This is having almost 650-700 types of species found worldwide and most of the species are medicinally used in Ayurveda and Chinese medicine.
Parts used:- Fruits, leaves bark, and roots.
Properties:- It is an astringent and cool herb.which improves digestion and has a laxative effect. It has some Aphrodisiac and rejuvenating properties. Other than this it has anticancer, antiulcer, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory properties.

Astavarga – An Eight Magical Herbs

Astavarga herbs are also called as herbs of immortality. It is one of the main ingredients of Chawanprasha and other Ayurveda medicines. The Astavarga herbs found at the height of nearly 6000 feet mostly on Himalaya, Uttarakhand, and Jammu Kashmir region.
In India ancient days there are a lot of Ayurveda acharya, Rishis, named Rishi Bhardwaj, Dhanwantri, Surut, Charak,  Aswani Kumar, etc. Aswani Kumar who was known for using and introduce miracle herbs has seen an old, weak sage named rishi chayanam, so Aswani Kumar rishi decided to rejuvenate the body of chayanam rishi. For this, the Bhardwaj muni introduced chawanprash with Astavarga herb. and using chawanprash the body of rishi chayanam restored to young and rejuvenated. There was a book named Paryayaratnamala an ancient book that provides good information on Astavarga Plants.
So the Astavarga means Astha – Eight and Varga _ group combination of eight herbs. These herbs have very good health-restoring properties and rejuvenating effects. It is well effective in increasing the immune system and works as antioxidants. It cures all three doshas Vatta, pitta, and Kapha. It is also effective in blood disorders.

As these Astavarga herbs are rarely available in the market so there are substitutes of above plants also given by Ayurveda acharya
1:-  Kakoli  can be substituted by Ashwagandha with Kali Musli
2:- Kshirakakoli can be substituted by Ashwagandha with safed musli
3:- Jeevak can be substituted by Vidarikand ( Pueraria tuberose) with safed Behen and guruchi.
4:- Rishabhka can be substituted by Vidarikand ( Pueraria tuberose) with lal behen
5:- Meda can be substituted by Shatavari with Salam mishri
6:- Mahameda can be substituted by Shatavari with Nagbala (Sida veroniciflolia), Prasarani (Paederia Foetida) and Shakakul mishri (Polygonatum multiflorum)
7:-Riddhi substitute herb will be Varahikand and Bala ( sida cordifolia)
8:- Vriddhi substituted herb will be Varahikand and Salam panja



Flax Seed – Linum Ustitatissimum

This is a large genus plant having almost 200 different types of species available worldwide. It is one of the oldest crop growing plants and in ancient days also it was consumed for good health. Its seeds contain almost 30-40% seed which is known as linseed oil. For cultivation, it requires well-drained dry sandy soil with proper sunlight. And sowing is done mostly in the spring season.
Parts used:- Whole plants, stems, seed, and oil.
Properties:- It is sweet, which has laxative and expectorant properties. It balances Vata disorder, Improves Kapha and Pitta increase body energy. It contains high fiber and Omega-3.

How to take Flax Seed:-
1:- Crushed flax seed mixed with breakfast cereals can be consumed.
2:- ½ - 1 teaspoon of flaxseed whole or powder after means with light warm water can be taken twice a day.
3:- 1-2 teaspoon of  Alsi oil mixed in milk can be taken at night before going to sleep.
4:- It can be also consumed in tea form – take 1 cup of water boil in a pan add milk, tea leaves and 1 teaspoon of flax powder in it, honey/sugar can be added according to taste. Now filter this tea and drink refreshing tea in every sip.

Anacyclus Pyrethrum has nine types of species found worldwide. Its roots are widely used by Arabian, Asian, and European.
For growing Anacyclus Pyrethrum plant it needs well-drained sunlight ( winter is not favorable for its cultivation), the seed is sown in early summer and then its roots are lifted in autumn then sun-dried its roots.

Properties:- Roots of Anacyclus Pyrethrum stimulates the salivary glands and increases the blood flow to that area.
Other uses:-
1:- It is an effective herb for the male reproductive system.
2:- It improves testosterone levels in males.
3:- It is beneficial in Childhood apraxia of speech.
4:- In toothache it also proves beneficial.
5:- its oils extracted from its root is used in liqueurs.
6:-It root powder when chewing from the mouth, eases head pain,
and toothache.
7:- It also proves helpful in indigestion.
8:-It proves helpful in Arthritis.


How to take Anacyclus Pyrethrum:-
1:- Take 1-2 pinches Anacyclus Pyrethrum root powder mixed with honey or with plain water once or twice a day.
2:- To increase effectiveness Anacyclus Pyrethrum powder can be taken with Ashwagandha powder and Kaunch beej powder.

Take care before use:-
It should not be taken during pregnancy and lactating period. It should be taken under the supervision of the Ayurveda doctor.
